The NCO Runs 2020 is a
new film starring Jason Statham that tells the story of an ex-Special Forces
operative and a CIA operative who become partners in a mission to recover the
infamous NCO Runs 2020. The film centers on a mission that goes horribly wrong
for the men involved as the two find themselves stranded on a desert island.
It's the type of adventure movie that can only come from the minds of James
Bond, Jason Bourne and Tom Cruise.
Jason Statham stars as
Dr. Stephen Strange, a former Special Forces operative who is given an
experimental serum by a Chinese agent in exchange for an ancient artifact.
Strange goes on the run after this mysterious incident where he battles Chinese
ninjas, pirates and others who seek to steal his artifact. The main character,
Dr. Strange, also has the ability to control time, a skill that helps him
battle his foes.
The movie begins with
NCO Runs, a super secret mission to recover the NCO Runs 2020, a weapon
developed for use by the Chinese government. However, when they're not looking
the team runs into trouble with ninjas who are hunting down NCO Runs artifacts.
Strange's new ability also allows him to travel through time. He uses this
skill to get himself to a certain point in history in order to steal NCO Runs
artifacts.
Along the way to the
island, Strange meets up with NCO Runs' arch enemy, Nimrod who is seeking
revenge for his son killed in an explosion. He also has a mole that is working
for him. Nimrod wants revenge and is willing to do whatever it takes to win,
including kidnapping NCO Runs.
Jason Statham plays
Nimrod as an arrogant villain, but also as an incredibly strong character, a
man who is willing to put himself in harm's way in order to get what he wants.
This is a role that was originally meant to be played by David Hasselhoff, but
when Hasselhoff passed away the role went to Statham instead.
Overall, the film looks
like one of the best James Bond and Tom Cruise films to ever hit theaters, and
it also has a lot to say about modern day spy tactics and the need for secrecy.
A well written script and cast with great actors will always elevate a film
from "just another action movie" to one that people talk about for
years to come.
